Dunbar Overview

Delightful and desirable, Dunbar on Vancouver’s tony west side is bordered by West 16th Avenue to the north, West 41st Avenue to the south, Pacific Spirit Park to the west and to the east by the zigzag routing of Quesnel Drive & Blenheim Street. Dunbar is a genteel neighbourhood known for mostly large single-family homes, leafy green streets, lovely gardens and horse stables nearby. Education is a highly valued among Dunbar residents with Crofton House and St. George’s private schools in the area. Six elementary schools are close by as well as Lord Byng and Prince of Wales Secondary Schools. Dunbar Street offers excellent local shopping with its hub located in and around 28th Avenue. An independent theatre, books stores, Stong’s market and Dunbar Lumbar are famous destinations in the community. Some of the cities finest private and public golf courses are just minutes away for Dunbar residents including McCleery, Marine Drive and Musqueam. Many parks in the neighbourhood are ideal for walking or taking your dog for a stroll. In addition, the magnificent Pacific Spirit Regional Park sits at its western border. Just minutes from the University of British Columbia, Dunbar has easy access to downtown through public transit and is but minutes from Vancouver International Airport.

With its tree-lined streets and attractive single family homes, Dunbar is truly one of the most attractive neighbourhoods in all the city. English is by far the dominant household language for residents in Dunbar, plus the area is also home to a large number of Chinese speakers.
