Killarney Overview

Quiet, conservative and oh so diverse, Killarney was one of the last areas in the city of Vancouver to be developed. Home to mostly second growth forest until after World War ll, it’s located on the southeastern side of Vancouver, with boundaries of 41st Avenue to the north, East 54th Avenue to the south, Argyle Street to the west and Boundary Road to the east. When it comes to diversity in Vancouver, Killarney is as mixed as it comes. Traditionally an Irish immigrant enclave, cruise Kingsway and Canada’s remarkable cultural mosaic is on full display. Small businesses catering to a variety of ethnic Canadian communities ranging from Chinese to Korean, Vietnamese, Taiwanese, Japanese, Caribbean and Filipino.

A history of long-time Vancouver citizens and now home to many new Canadian families, Killarney enjoys a slower pace of life, but with exciting new real estate redevelopments along the Fraser River attracting new residents. Lifestyle choices include the Killarney Community Centre, the Fraser River walkway with sweeping views of the water and incredible edibles near the corner of Victoria and 41st Avenue.
