Traditionally spanning Vancouver’s east/west divide and now host to a revitalized urban core, the large Mount Pleasant East neighbourhood in Vancouver includes the eastern borders of Chinatown, historic Strathcona and is bordered by the Hastings Street to the north, Ontario Street to the west, 16th Avenue to the south, and Great Northern Way to Clark Drive to the east. The Mount Pleasant East neighbourhood you knew was traditionally an eclectic mix of large, post-war homes on single lots. Today, many have been converted to multi-unit dwellings. With strong growth and gentrification in all parts of the neighbourhood, there has been a surge of multi-story strata-titled buildings with higher-end condos and lofts. Mount Pleasant East also includes the exciting new condominium community near Vancouver’s famous Olympic Village off Main Street.
Mount Pleasant East is one of the most vibrant city neighbourhoods with first time buyers, young urban professionals, young families and original inhabitants. With a total of five elementary schools and many high schools in its catchment area, they include Sir Charles Tupper, St. Patrick’s and St. Francis Xavier. For post-secondary students, there is a burgeoning new tech campus along Great Northern Way. This is a joint project involving Vancouver Community College, UBC, SFU, Emily Carr School of Art and Design and BCIT. Mount Pleasant East also boasts one of the nest neighbourhood community centres in the city near Kingsway & Broadway, that features a gym, climbing wall, fitness centre, dance studios and multipurpose rooms.
The intersection of Main & Broadway is a funky retail hub with independent coffee shops, local boutiques and first-class restaurants. Transportation options with easy access include the #99 B-Line to UBC, Canada and Skytrain lines nearby and buses to main north-south arteries in the city.

The MLS® Home Price Index is modelled on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) which measures the rate of price change for a basket of goods and services including food, clothing, shelter, and transportation. Instead of measuring goods and services, the HPI measures the change in the price of housing features. Thus, the HPI measures typical, pure price change (inflation or deflation).
