Renfrew Overview

Vancouver’s Renfrew area is a large middle class East Van neighbourhood that lies on the Eastern side of Vancouver home to revitalized local retail and major transit lines. The Renfrew neighbourhood includes the newly rebranded East Village shopping district, and is located between Hastings Street to the north, Grandview Highway to the south, Nanaimo Street to the west and Boundary Road to the east. In the mid-1980s, Skytrain rapid transit spurred increased development in the Renfrew/Collingwood area, drawing families from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds to the neighbourhood’s attractive houses, townhouses and apartment complexes. Renfrew offers great street appeal with big trees, kids’ playing outside and homes nicely set back from the sidewalk. You’ll find larger numbers of Cantonese, Vietnamese and Italian speakers than other Vancouver neighbourhoods. En Route magazine recently listed the area as one of “Canada’s next great neighbourhoods”. Renfrew is home to six Vancouver School Board elementary schools, Vancouver Technical Secondary School and two private schools.

Always popular with growing families, Renfrew boasts plenty of public transit with easy access to both the Renfrew and Rupert Millennium Skytrain stations. It is home to the Renfrew Park Community Centre and the Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival, a lantern festival that happens every September.
