Shaughnessy Overview

Boasting some of city’s most elaborate estates with classic British and early American architecture, Shaughnessy is the height of prestige of Vancouver neighbourhoods bordered by 16th Avenue to the north, 41st Avenue to to the south, Oak Street to the east with Laburnaum & Marguerite changing to Cypress & Arbutus to the west. The majority of homes in the exclusive Shaughnessy neighbourhood are single-family detached homes located on large lots and sell in the upper price range. In addition, some of the stately mansion-style homes have been converted into luxury condominiums for today’s discerning buyer. Famous residences in the neighbourhood include Hycroft Mansion home to the prestigious University Women’s Club. Of particular note is The Crescent, once of Vancouver’s most exclusives addresses featuring 14 large stately homes with a beautiful boulevard park. Shaughnessy is close to some of the finest schools in Vancouver with Shaughnessy, Quilchena and Carr Elementary Schools nearby, and quick and easy access to Vancouver College, Little Flower Academy, York House School and Vancouver Talmud Torah.

Excellent shopping close to Shaughnessy adds to neighbourhood appeal with an interesting mix of shops and restaurants on Oak Street. Nearby are the fashion shops of South Granville and the high end retail mix at Oakridge Shopping Centre. Shaughnessy is well served by car and Vancouver’s transit system, and is but minutes away from the downtown and YVR airport.
