West End Overview

One of Vancouver’s liveliest and most historic neighbourhoods, the oh so urban West End in downtown Vancouver is located with Georgia Street to the north, Burrard Street to the east, English Bay and Burrard Inlet to the south and the majesty of Stanley Park is to the west. As a gateway to Stanley Park, this primarily residential neighbourhood is one of the most most densely populated areas in Canada, with over 40,000 people living in high-rise condominiums & apartments, beside many renovated heritage homes and low-rise buildings. Vancouver’s West End represents the leading-edge of a contemporary urban community both progressive and multi-cultural, with English as the dominant household language, and Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Farsi and German spoken too. Robson Street has been referred to as the best shopping street in Vancouver and the neighbourhood well known for many colourful culinary destinations. The West End is home to the Pride Parade, Siwash Rock, the Sylvia Hotel and the Vancouver Biennale Art Exhibition. With easy access by bus to both Skytrain and Canada Line rapid transit stations downtown, the False Creek Ferry and Aquabus provide residents with convenient water transportation from English Bay to Science World and Granville Island.

The West End has a wide variety of educational options with Lord Roberts Elementary & Annex and the renowned King George Secondary School in the neighbourhood. In addition, the downtown campuses of UBC, SFU and BCIT are just minutes away.
