Formerly a city warehouse district, the Yaletown neighbourhood has been transformed to one of Vancouver’s trendiest areas with sidewalk cafes, excellent restaurants, thriving nightlife and intimate boutique hotels. Yaletown is the city’s newest shopping district with turn-of-the-century buildings that now house high-end furniture, home design and designer clothing. Alongside some attached townhomes, the vast majority of residences in Yaletown are high-end condos and apartments. While the majority of locals are young professionals, wealthy penthouse dwellers, young families and a growing number of empty-nesters now call Yaletown home. The neighbourhood is adorned with beautiful parks around False Creek including David Lam, Creeckside and Coopers’ Park. With easy access to rapid transit and city bus services, Yaletown also has water taxis to the south side of False Creek and Granville Island.
Yaletown in downtown Vancouver has Elsie Roy Elementary School right in the heart of the neighbourhood. Other education institutions nearby include the downtown campuses of the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
