Proclaimed the “City of the Arts”, Port Moody has a large and thriving art and culture scene. Both the scenic setting and rents that were traditionally lower than other areas have attracted artists for generations. The city has embraced this legacy with art groups, festivals and facilities. Including the villages of Belcarra and Anmore, Port Moody warps around the eastern end of Burrard inlet with neighbourhoods rising from the water to the mountains. Port Moody is the smallest city in the Tri-Cities union.

Travel to Port Moody is via Barnet Highway to the west and Lougheed Highway to the east, while Clarke/North Road runs directly to New Westminster. Port Moody is served by the public School District 43, with two secondary, two middle and seven elementary schools. Residential development has been booming in Port Moody with new neighbourhoods and services continually being added. Recreation in Port Moody has a distinct outdoors flavour to it, with forested lands abundant in the city, and wilderness always close by. Beachside picnics and strolls through the trails at Rocky Point, or day hikes at Belcarra Regional Park or mountain biking the Buntzen Lake trails are all convenient for Port Moody residents, and are destinations for other Lower Mainland communities.
